New features, fixes, and improvements to Wax Spinner, the free social app for vinyl record collectors.
Browse collections and filter the feed
Two things I'd wanted for a while finally landed.
Every profile now has a Collection tab, so you can dig through someone's whole record library without leaving the site (each cover links back to its Discogs page).
The Now Spinning feed has category filters. Tap a genre like Reggae or Jazz to see only those spins. The categories come straight from the Discogs genre data on your records, so the list only shows what people are actually spinning.
Share cards that show up everywhere
When you share a spin link, it unfurls into a proper card with the album art, the artist, and your note. Getting that to work on every platform took an embarrassing amount of effort (Slack in particular fought me the whole way), but it now behaves on Discord, iMessage, Facebook, Bluesky, and Slack.
A few small things
Renamed the "Dashboard" link to "Spin Something," because that is what it's actually for.
Added a Spin Something button right on the feed so you don't have to go hunting for it.
A real home page
If you're not logged in, the front page now actually explains what Wax Spinner is, with a rotating peek at the app and a live example of one of those share cards pulled from a recent spin.
The feed knows what day it is
The Now Spinning feed now groups spins by day (Today, Yesterday, and so on) so you can get a feel for how active things have been.
Wax Spinner gets a new look
Gave the whole site a warmer, retro-leaning redesign: cream and amber, big bold type, the works. I also did a pass on sharing, search visibility, and gave it a proper waveform favicon while I was in there.
